Geothermal Systems in Tulsa & Broken Arrow, OK

The ground beneath our feet is warmer than the outside air during winter, while the opposite happens during summer. Geothermal heating and cooling makes use of this and utilizes the crust of the earth to heat and cool your property. This method does not use any electricity.

By inserting small pipes into the ground, heat can be transferred to and from your home. There is no fuel burning here. Heat is not created, it is only transported.

Unlike wind and solar energy, geothermal power source doesn’t vary. The ground is always there — once you get a geothermal system installed, you can effectively lower your carbon footprint and still keep energy costs low.

As a bonus, the government can offer significant tax incentives for homeowners who opt for geothermal heating and cooling systems.

Rely on a Permanent Geothermal Resource

Below the earth’s crust is a layer of molten rock called magma. This layer continuously produces heat from naturally radioactive substances like potassium and uranium. The amount of heat that the Earth’s surface has is 50,000 times stronger than all the oil and natural gas resources in the world.

Now your home can harness some of that energy to keep your home cool in summer, and warm in winter.

A Geothermal System Offers Year-Round Energy

  • Heat Pump – the inside unit, usually found in the basement
  • Ground Loop – the underground piping connecting to the heat pump. Can be installed horizontally or vertically.

Get Warmth From the Earth in Winter

The ground loop circulates the water that absorbs the heat from the earth, returning it to the indoor heat pump. The heat pump then extracts the heat from the water and distributes it through your home as warm air. Then, the water is re-circulated so that it can collect more heat from the ground. The loop water is much warmer when it comes inside the home than when it returns to the earth because we’re removing heat.

Remove Heat from Your Home in Summer

The indoor heat pump takes the hot air from inside your home and removes the heat. It leaves behind cool air that can now be distributed through the vents as air conditioning. The removed heat is then pushed back into the earth through the ground loop. The water is warmer leaving the home than when it returns, because we’re pushing the heat towards the ground loop, and not retaining it.
