UEF Water Heater/PSO Tax Credit

water heater tax credit, reduce heating bill. tax credit hvac

If you’re in the market for a new water heater, you may be surprised to learn that there are rebates available for upgrading to a more energy-efficient model. In particular, the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) offers a rebate of $250 for homeowners who install a natural gas tankless water heater or a natural gas condensing water heater with a Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of .80 or higher. Here’s what you need to know about this rebate and why upgrading to a high UEF water heater with Air Solutions is a smart choice.

What is Uniform Energy Factor (UEF)?

Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) is a measure of a water heater’s overall energy efficiency. It takes into account the energy required to heat the water and to keep it hot over time, as well as any energy lost through standby heat loss. The higher the UEF, the more energy-efficient the water heater is.

Why Upgrade to a High UEF Water Heater?

Upgrading to a high UEF water heater can provide a number of benefits, including:

  • Lower Energy Bills: High UEF water heaters use less energy to heat water, which can translate into lower energy bills over time.
  • Reduced Environmental Impact: Using less energy to heat water means fewer greenhouse gas emissions and a reduced environmental impact.
  • Improved Performance: High UEF water heaters may be able to heat water more quickly and efficiently than older, less efficient models, providing a more consistent supply of hot water.
  • Longer Lifespan: High UEF water heaters are often built with more durable materials and may have a longer lifespan than older models, which can save homeowners money on replacement costs.

How to Qualify for the PSO Rebate

To qualify for the PSO rebate, homeowners must install a natural gas tankless water heater or a natural gas condensing water heater with a UEF of .80 or higher.

To apply for the rebate with Air Solutions, homeowners must complete and submit the PSO Water Heater Rebate Form which can be found here on our website, along with a copy of the paid invoice and a photo of the installed water heater from Air Solutions. The rebate will be issued in the form of a check within 6-8 weeks of receiving the completed application.

In conclusion, upgrading to a high UEF water heater is a smart choice for homeowners who want to save money on energy bills, reduce their environmental impact, and enjoy reliable access to hot water. And with the PSO rebate for qualifying natural gas tankless water heaters or natural gas condensing water heaters with a UEF of .80 or higher, there’s never been a better time to make the switch.

Beginning 2023, the expanded version of 25C, now called the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022) will provide up to $2,000 in tax credits for qualifying high efficiency water heaters as well as credits for electrical upgrades
